Matt Symonds

Matt is a talented midfielder. He is a New Zealand international, having represented the New Zealand A / Development squad, as well as previously representing his country at U23, U21 and U18 levels (the latter as New Zealand U18 captain). In 2018 he represented the Barbarians side of non-UK internationals, playing against England in preparation ahead of the 2018 Hockey World Cup.

As a player, he controls games from the base of midfield, with excellent passing ability and creative vision. Matt has played elite hockey in the top divisions of four countries - New Zealand (where he twice won gold, out of six campaigns), Australia, Germany and England.

Matt is a great coach with experience developed at a number of schools, clubs and institutions in New Zealand and the UK. His multi-national playing career has enhanced his hockey philosophy and we are delighted to welcome him into the EVo Hockey family.
