Young player focus: Martha Broderick

At EVO, we like to keep up to date the progress of young players who attend our events. From time to time, we feature them in our blog! Today we'd like to tell you all about Martha Broderick ('Marth Vader').

Martha has been coming to EVO since early 2016, travelling from Hertfordshire to our Surrey base.  She has become an EVO regular, taking inspiration from EVO goalkeeper coaches she has learnt from along the way, including David Harte (2 x World GK of the Year), Tomas Santiago (Argentina, Olympic gold medallist), Allan Dick (Scotland), Amy Gibson (GB & Scotland) and Ore Ogunlana (England junior international).

She has taken the skills gained at EVO back to school, club and county.   At the start of 2017, she played up for Braintree Blue Hornets U14s in the indoor Copperbox tournament when they won the bronze medal on penalty shuffles.  Playing with the Hornets U12s they were Essex County champions in 2017 and third at regionals.  She was the Essex U13 goalie last season and this year is playing for U13 and U14 at school, both of whom have qualified for regionals, as well as joining the U16s on their tour of Holland, where she was awarded their player of the tour.

Martha has recently been selected for England Hockey's U15 Performance Centre a year early, having done some dedicated strength and conditioning training with EVO movement specialist Tom Archer to prepare.  She says she loves being in goal just as much as being part of the EVO fan club!

Martha has benefitted from EVO's hockey camps and 1-1 training. She is a valued part of the EVO family and we look forward to continuing to assist her on her hockey journey.

We're always on the lookout for great hockey stories, from players in the EVO Hockey family and beyond! Send us your hockey stories and maybe you will feature too...
